What's the Science behind EFT?
Research has demonstrated that EFT cansignificantly reduce cortisol levels, indicating its potential for stress reduction and emotional regulation. For example, one study found that nursing students who practiced EFT experienced significant reductions in stress
and anxiety levels compared to a control group (Stapleton et al., 2018).Additionally, another randomized controlled trial showed that EFT could produce measurable changes in stress biochemistry, such as reduced cortisol levels and improved psychological symptoms (Churchet al., 2012).
Further supporting its credability, a meta-analysis reviewed the effectiveness of EFT for anxiety and concluded that EFT significantly reduces anxiety scores compared to control conditions, with effects maintained over time (Clond, 2016).
In terms of pain management, a study focused on individuals with chronic pain found that EFT significantly reduced the severity of pain and improved overall well-being. Participants reported decreased pain intensity and improved emotional state following EFT sessions(Brattberg, 2008).
These studies, along with many others, contribute to thegrowing evidence supporting EFT as an effective therapeutic tool for mental and physical health issues.
Our Session Process
- Welcoming Introduction: We kick things off with a warm welcome, setting the stage for a safe and comfortable space where you can freely express yourself.
- Initial Discussion: We’ll start by chatting about what’s on your mind right now and what you’re hoping to tackle today. It’s all about making sure we’re on the same page.
- Exploratory Tapping: Then, we’ll do a bit of tapping to uncover any hidden stuff and shine a light on anything that needs attention.
- Focus Selection: Together, we pinpoint a main topic or issue to focus on during the session.
- Progressive Energy Tapping Rounds: We then embark on multiple rounds of tapping, progressively delving into different aspects of the chosen issue to explore and address them thoroughly.
- Natural Conclusion: As our session winds down, we wrap up once all relevent aspects have been processed, often reaching a natural endpoint. If needed, I can employ techniques to 'box up' any unfinished business for our next session.

Client Responses in Sessions
During an EFT session, clients may experience various physical and emotional responses that are signs of the therapy's impact.
Here are some common experiences:
Yawning: Often occurs as a physical sign of releasing emotional and energetic blockages.
Burping: May be experienced as another form of releasing stuck energy.
Body Sensations: Feel shifts or sensations in the body which indicate energy movement.
Emotional Release: Emotional responses such as crying are common, signifying the processing and releasing of deeply held emotions.
Tiredness: Clients can often feel quite tired after a session due to releasing emotional blocks.

- I'm not sure how to explain my issue, can we start in a general way?
- Yes! While it's better to be specific, a general start to tapping helps discover what the underlying issue is.
- How much do I need to share?
- As much as you like! I don't need all the details, it's still effective once you know what you're tapping on.
- Will it be intense?
- I like to use a gentle approach and will never push you further than you want to go. However, as you are tapping the entire time, the intensity may not seem as high as it does without tapping. There may be some emotional release during the session but you will not be left in an emotional state. Most people find that the release was necessary and feel much better afterward.
- Will my issue be gone forever?
- This depends on how big the issue is. Some people find that it is, while others can sometimes find new triggers that can bring it up again. During the session you will find ways to deal with it if it does reappear. Regular tapping outside of sessions is recommended and this can be a great tool for the rest of your life!
- Is there any preparation required before an EFT session?
- No, just bring your lovely self!
- How fast does EFT work?
- The speed at which EFT works varies depending on the intensity of the stress. For milder issues, 3 to 5 rounds of tapping may bring relief, while more intense concerns could require 10 to 12 rounds to ease immediate stress. For deep-seated or chronic issues, consistent tapping sessions over time with an experienced EFT practitioner yield the best results. Remember, the benefits of EFT build up over time, so regular tapping is key for optimal outcomes.
- Can you teach yourself EFT?
- Absolutely! The tapping points are easy to grasp. However, for tackling specific challenges, it's beneficial to work with an experienced practitioner. The subconscious mind can sometimes throw up roadblocks, but a skilled EFT practitioner can help navigate these hurdles with tailored tapping scripts, leading to faster results.
